TapOkie Features

Everything you need. Nothing you don't.

A daily check-in for people living alone. One tap, or your contacts get an SMS. No app needed on their end.

Core Safety

One-tap daily check-in

TapOkie is built around one simple habit: once a day, you open the app and tap I'm OK. That single tap turns “I hope they're fine” into “I know they checked in today”-without tracking your day or turning safety into a long checklist.

What this means for you

  • Your circle gets peace of mind from one clear signal, not from guessing from social posts or silence.
  • If you forget, we send a gentle reminder in your app language-helpful nudges, not pressure or guilt.
  • Works well for anyone living alone, working alone, travelling, or supporting a parent who wants independence with a safety net.

Instant SMS alerts

When something is wrong, your contacts don't need another app or a login. TapOkie sends SMS so the message reaches them on the phone they already use-simple for family members of any age or tech comfort level.

What this means for you

  • If you miss a check-in, verified contacts get an SMS. On Premium, the emergency button sends an alert right away.
  • If you allow location sharing, alerts can include your last known location so people know where to start looking-not live tracking, just context when it matters.
  • Each contact is verified with a code first, so alerts only go to people who agreed to be there.
Instant SMS alerts

Up to 3 verified contacts

You choose who is in your circle. Every number is verified with a one-time code so everyone has clearly opted in-no surprise texts, no mystery about who will be notified.

What this means for you

  • Free includes one verified contact; Premium includes up to three-enough for family plus a neighbour or close friend.
  • Verification keeps the list intentional: only people you trust and who agreed to help.
  • Spreading alerts across a few people improves the chance someone can respond quickly, even across time zones.

One-tap emergency button

Check-ins answer “How was today?” The emergency button (Premium) is for when you need help now-one tap tells your verified contacts by SMS without waiting for the next check-in window.

What this means for you

  • Designed for moments when you can't or shouldn't wait-serious pain, feeling unsafe, or any situation where fast contact matters.
  • Premium uses a monthly allowance of emergency taps that refills as you complete check-ins, so the feature stays available without encouraging casual use.
  • A dignified alternative for people who don't want a separate panic device but still want a clear “get help now” path on the phone.

Flexibility & Control

Flexible check-ins + grace period

Life is uneven: shift work, appointments, travel. Premium lets you set check-in times per weekday. Everyone gets a built-in grace period-if you run a little late, you have extra minutes to tap OK before alerts go out.

What this means for you

  • Free uses a straightforward rolling 24-hour rhythm; Premium adds per-day schedules when you want the reminder to match your real week.
  • The grace period reduces false alarms from small delays-your contacts aren't notified the second the clock ticks.
  • You can adjust your setup as routines change-no rigid “one size forever” pattern.

Pause check-ins and skip dates

Holidays, hospital stays, or a planned offline day shouldn't trick your circle into thinking something is wrong. Pause check-ins altogether or skip specific dates so alerts only reflect reality.

What this means for you

  • Pause when you'll be unavailable for a stretch-fewer needless messages for you and for your contacts.
  • Skip individual days (for example travel or special events) while keeping your normal schedule the rest of the time.
  • Keeps trust high: when TapOkie does alert, it's more likely to mean something.

Your Last Known Location. Your Rules.

Location is optional and always your choice. Share in the background, only when you check in or use emergency (with permission), or turn it off entirely-aligned with how your phone already handles location access.

What this means for you

  • Background sharing is only on if you explicitly choose it-useful for some situations, unnecessary for others.
  • Foreground-only sharing ties location to moments you're already using the app, with clear consent.
  • You can change modes anytime; the app is built so control stays with you.

Languages in the app - and in every alert

Your app language and your reminders can match how you think best. For SMS, you can pick one language for everyone or a different language per contact so every message is easy to read in a stressful moment.

What this means for you

  • The interface and in-app reminders follow the language you select-less mental translation when you open TapOkie.
  • SMS to your circle can match each person's preferred language, which helps mixed-language families.
  • Especially helpful when loved ones are more comfortable reading alerts in their first language than in English.
